The Lock Keeper’s Cottage is a rather special place nestled beside the Grand Union Canal in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside. Recently refurbished, the cottage has been part of the Calcutt family for over 50 years. Whether you’re looking to explore the local area or simply want a peaceful place to escape to, we hope our cottage will provide the perfect getaway for you.
The space
You’ll find everything you need for an easy stay: Wi-Fi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, towels, hairdryer, and more. Step outside to the beautiful orchard garden overlooking the Grand Union Canal — a peaceful haven with seating, ideal for your morning coffee or evening drink.
The cottage is part of our lively working boatyard during the day, bringing a sense of adventure as boaters and holidaymakers come and go. Pop next door to the chandlery for hot drinks and local goodies — or simply sit back and enjoy the charm of canal life.
Guest access
Guests have sole use of the cottage, that includes a small walled garden and our orchard garden. You are also welcome to explore our woodland walks and SSSI fields. These fields are afforded this protected status due to the rare and endangered wild flowers and grasses that grow there. There is also access across the top lock of the Calcutt flight to the towpath which runs along side the Grand Union Canal.
Other things to note
Stairs
Please note that access to the bedrooms is via a steel spiral staircase and once upstairs the bathroom and small bedroom are accessed via additional steps.
No smoking
Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the cottage.
No pets
For the comfort of all guests, no pets are allowed.
